My Journey to Leadership: Leading from the Heart, Embracing Imperfection

This is where I start, and where you begin, too. A space where perfection doesn’t matter, where vulnerability is embraced, and where we lead not from a place of ‘having it all together’ but from a place of ‘I’m still figuring it out, too.’

I’ve spent much of my life running from vulnerability, convinced that I had to have everything figured out to be worthy of leading. But the truth is, it’s through the struggles, the imperfections, and the messy middle that I’ve learned the most about myself—and about leadership. Today, I’m here to share my story with you, not because I have all the answers, but because I want to lead from a place of authenticity, love, and heart.

Who I Am and What I’ve Been Through

I am a mentor, a mother of three, a wife, and a woman who has faced some incredibly tough moments—health challenges that shook me to my core, personal struggles that made me question everything I thought I knew about myself. I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and two autoimmune diseases. My marriage went through a tough period of turbulence. I’ve learned that I’m not the perfect mentor or the flawless leader—but that’s exactly what makes me the right person to guide others through their own struggles.

In the middle of all this, I learned that real leadership isn’t about having it all figured out. It’s about showing up even when you don’t have all the answers. It’s about holding space for others to grow, and growing alongside them. I’ve been there—feeling lost, struggling with boundaries, overwhelmed by life. But through all of it, I’ve kept one thing close to my heart: the belief that you can lead from anywhere, no matter how imperfect or uncertain your journey feels.

Why I’m Creating This Space

I created this space because I want you to know you’re not alone in your struggles. Leadership can often feel like a lonely road—one that’s filled with expectations of perfection and success. But what if we could redefine leadership as something more human? Something that embraces imperfection, vulnerability, and empathy?

This is a space for people who lead from the heart. People who want to bring their whole selves to the table, not just the polished versions of themselves. It’s a space for those who want to feel empowered to lead, not because they have all the answers, but because they are willing to walk alongside others in the journey.

My Core Values and What I Stand For

The core values I stand for are simple but powerful:

Authenticity: Leading from a place of honesty and openness, no matter how messy or imperfect the story is.

Vulnerability: Embracing the courage to be seen, not just for what we do, but for who we are.

Presence: Showing up fully, grounded, and connected, not just in body, but in mind and heart.

Self-care: Understanding that we must care for ourselves first in order to care for others. Like a car needs to refuel, we must replenish ourselves to give to those around us.

The Invitation

This space is for those who are ready to embrace the full spectrum of life—the sweet, the bitter, the salty, the astringent, and everything in between. I’m inviting you to join me in leading from a place of heart, vulnerability, and authenticity. Together, we can create something that’s not about perfection but about real connection, real growth, and real leadership.

A Final Thought

As I reflect on my journey and why I’m sharing this space, I’m reminded of a powerful quote from a movie The Aeronauts, that changed the way I think about leadership:

You do not change the world simply by looking at it. You change it through the way you choose to live in it. Look up. The sky lies open.

This thought resonates deeply with me because it speaks to the essence of why we show up in the first place. We can’t sit back and wait for everything to be perfect to make a difference. Change comes through action, through stepping into who we truly are, imperfections and all. And that’s why I’m here—inviting you to do the same.
